Oprah is a true American success story. She overcame a hardscrabble childhood in the American South to became to the first African-American billionaire and perhaps the most powerful media personality on the planet. Though she sometimes strays from Village orthodoxy, e.g., her opposition to the War in Iraq, she generally offers a friendly forum for promotion of our pet projects, like school reform.
