Bill Clinton

42nd President of the United States of America

Issued: June 2012

Statement: Bill Clinton's signature accomplishments as president, including NAFTA and the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act, revealed a Democratic party finally ready to join hands with the financial community. So it should be no surprise to find the ex-president advocating for an extension of the Bush tax cuts on CNBC's Closing Bell with Maria Bartiromo.

After describing the importance of avoiding any action to “contract the economy,” the ex-president predicted that President Obama will put off ending the Bush tax cuts until early next year. “That’s probably the best thing to do right now,” he added.

A week earlier, Bill described presidential challenger Mitt Romney's record at the private equity firm Bain Capital as “sterling.”

Bipartisanship like this deserves a citation. Preach on, Big Fella!
